Hey, friends. I don't know about yall, but my skin has needed a little help adjusting as the weather transitions from breezy Spring to hot Summer. The oily and sweaty texture of our skin on hot & humid days makes it easier for dirt particles to stick and leave our skin feeling a little more icky than usual.
I've recently added 3 new products to my daily, all natural skin care routine (which you can find here) and as promised, want to keep it as updated for you guys as possible! Here is what I've been using to balance out my skin and keep it feeling fresh on the muggiest of days-
Franklin & Whitman Face Masks
I discovered Franklin & Whitman at one of their rooftop yoga events in Philadelphia to benefit the Pennsylvania SPCA. (Yes, they have killer beauty products AND help dogs in need!) Since that day, I pretty much can't live without their face masks. They're filled with super beneficial ingredients for your skin like activated charcoal, coffee and even matcha, and leave my face feeling brand spankin new, especially after a long day. These babies are now a part of my routine at least twice a week.
Coola Mineral Matte Face Sunscreen
It's super important to protect your skin from the sun. I can't tell you how long it's taken me to find a face sunscreen that's natural, cruelty-free, works AND feels goood on my skin. This lotion has legit no weight to it, but is also hydrating enough to double as my morning moisturizer! It's also full of antioxidants and the matte finish helps reduce that hot weather shine.
A Refreshing DIY Essential Oil Face Spray
Don't run at the thought of a DIY- I PROMISE it's super easy! Just a little bit of water and your favorite essential oil will make a simple spray that you can bring anywhere and use anytime for a refreshing boost. My go-to is this yummy blend that cools and soothes my skin after a day in the sun-
Into a 2 oz. glass spray bottle, add
8 drops Peppermint essential oil
8 drops Lavender essential oil
Fill the rest of the space with water, shake, spray and enjoy!
Lush Shampoo Bars
Ok, this one isn't for skin, per say. BUT. I feel that it's relevant because the more we sweat, the more we tend to wash our hair during the Summer.
I've recently swapped my old shampoo (and its plastic bottle) for these cute and effective shampoo bars from Lush! These little beauties smell super yummy, and actually outlast 2-3 bottles of liquid shampoo, lasting for up to 80 washes! PLUS they're only about $10-12. So why not save money and the environment at the same time?
